Montana Fishburne Talks Laurence's Reaction To Sex Tape, Future In Acting

Montana Fishburne talked to The Hollywood Reporter about why she released her sex tape, how it has affected her relationship with dad Laurence and her future career plans.
Montana has previously said she hopes that like Kim Kardashian, her sex tape will catapult her to mainstream fame, and she elaborates on that wish in the interview.

On her relationship with her father since the tape was released:
"I did talk to my father. He told me he was embarrassed by me. My mom just says, 'I love you.' We don't talk about it every day. She wants me to be happy and doesn't want me to get dragged into the dark side of porn."
On other offers she has received:
"I can't be specific, but they are acting roles. I'm open to scripted and reality. It just all depends on what the project it is. If something truly interests me, I'll get super involved and want to make it happen. That's why I did this movie."
On how she expects the sex tape to affect her career:
"Kim Kardashian's sex tape was released, but she still got past that. Even though she got all that negative attention for it, she still has all these other ventures going on now. That is what I want to emulate: having a tape come out and still being seen as a positive person. Not just, 'She's a porn star.'"

Our Reporter RUSS SAYS: ‘Machete’ Is A Great Gorefest! Plus Lindsay Lohan Gets Naked – AWESOME!

My prediction: If you enjoy excessive violence, boobs and/or Lindsay Lohan, you will love this movie about a Mexican fed with a license to kill!
When Robert Rodriguez makes a film, you should always expect the unexpected. So if you expected to have a peaceful, relaxing time at the movie theatre this Labor Day weekend, think again. Machete is blissful, bloody, fun carnage – but it sure as heck isn’t relaxing!
Danny Trejo plays an ex-Federale (a member of the Mexican police) who tries to clear his name after he’s made the fall guy on a crooked political assassination. Oh yeah, and he is PISSED. He wants revenge and will do whatever it takes to get it – including pretty inventive ways of killing those who have wronged him! Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin and Robert DeNiro are all along for the ride on this blood and boobs filled bonanza that had me cheering in the theatre!
Now, let’s talk Lindsay. By no means is this the 24-year-old trainwreck’s comeback role. But let me tell you – by the end of the movie I can definitely say her talent is still intact.
The first time you see her onscreen as gun-toting socialite/former nun April Benz, she gets into big trouble with her dad (Jeff Fahey), vomits and apologizes to him with a “sorry, daddy.” So basically, an average Friday night for Ms. Lohan.
What else does Lilo get into on the big screen? Well, she makes out with women, goes topless (her boobs look real and REALLY GOOD too!) and shoots guns! It’s not going to win her any Best Actress trophies, but I was a fan.
One reason NOT to see this movie? Jessica Alba. She plays an immigrations officer who’s trying to take down Michelle’s character, Luce – a taco-stand-owning killer. She’s so bad she’s almost good – almost. But let’s be honest – who’s really going to catch Jessica Alba in a movie for her acting?
In summary, will you enjoy Machete? If you want to end your summer with a bang and drive home the fact that Lindsay Lohan still can’t get a serious movie role, absolutely. I give it four out of five machetes for sure!
PS – if you’re a guy, there’s definitely a bonus in store for you. If your girlfriend has dragged you to see Charlie. St Cloud or The Switch in recent months, take her to see this movie as a revenge!

Hey, Hollywood Lifers — You’ll Never Guess What Brad Pitt Is Doing With His Voice!

Brad Pitt is warming up his vocal chords to narrate the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl win documentary!
We can’t get enough of Brad Pitt. His humanitarian work, the dedication he shows to his six children: Maddox, Shiloh, Zahara, Pax, Vivienne and Knox, seeing how he dotes on partner Angelina Jolie, and possessing A-list talent, it’s clear that Brad is nearly perfect – and now focusing on something else he’s passionate about…sports!
The 46-year-old is joining an impressive list of actors including, Martin Sheen, Tom Selleck, Alec Baldwin, Laurence Fishburne, Donald Sutherland, James Gandolfini and Kevin Bacon by lending his voice to America’s Game, an NFL films production that began in 2006 to pay homage to the first 40 years of the Super Bowl.
Narrating the Saints’ Super Bowl win documentary has a special place in Brad’s heart. Through his organization Make It Right Brad has worked on helping New Orleans recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina five years ago. We have a feeling even the non-football fans will be dying to check this out!

LAURA SAYS: I Can Already Predict Who Will Make It To The Top 3 On ‘DWTS’ This Season!

Sorry Bristol Palin and David Hasselhoff, but you will NOT be among those who have a serious shot at dance floor glory!
Get ready for some serious drama with you Paso Doble, BFFs. Yet another season of Dancing with the Stars is upon us, and now that the partner match-ups were announced this morning, it’s clear to me who’s going to win the competition!
Out of the 11 champions and 11 dancers, I believe that Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff will be the top competitors – though Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani could be season 11’s wild card.
Let’s just look at the professional dancers’ records for a sec: Derek had won TWICE — and now he’s got Dirty Dancing’s Baby as his partner — they’re an unstoppable force! And although Maksim may never have taken the winner’s title, he DID show off some fancy footwork with Erin Andrews last season and even taught Chelsea Clinton how to dance for her wedding this summer. As for Karina, a desire to best her ex-fiance, Maksim, may just have her fighting furiously to claim the first place title.
As for Tony, having Kate ‘two left feet’ Gosselin as his partner last season is reason enough to come out swinging in an attempt to prove that he’s got what it takes to be the best! Who do YOU think is going to win DWTS this season, HollywoodLifers?

Caroline Giuliani Gets Community Service For Shoplifting Charge

NEW YORK — A judge told former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's 21-year-old daughter Tuesday to do a day of community service and keep out of trouble to get rid of charges that she stole makeup from a high-end cosmetics store.
The case against Caroline Giuliani – accused of pocketing about $100 worth of beauty items – was adjourned in contemplation of dismissal. The legal term means the case will be closed and sealed if Giuliani completes the volunteer work, expected to be with the city Department of Sanitation, and doesn't have any more brushes with the law for six months.
"Stay out trouble and avoid re-arrest," Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Jennifer Schecter told Giuliani, a Harvard University student. She didn't enter any plea in the case, didn't speak in court and ignored reporters' questions as she, mother Donna Hanover and others waded through a media pack to a waiting Hyundai SUV. Her father wasn't there.
The Manhattan district attorney's office said the resolution of her case was common for first-time, low-dollar-amount shoplifting arrests in which no theft ring is suspected – not a special deal for the daughter of the man who made cracking down on petty crime a centerpiece of his tenure at City Hall.
Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor and Republican presidential candidate, viewed being tough on low-level offenses as key to lowering crime rates and improving New Yorkers' quality of life. A spokeswoman for him didn't immediately respond to an e-mail message, and the ex-mayor has said through a representative that the case was a personal matter.
About 65 percent of the roughly 2,100 people arrested in first-time, roughly $100 or less shoplifting charges in Manhattan last year were offered and accepted the same dismissal deal as Caroline Giuliani, the district attorney's office said. Some others pleaded guilty to lesser charges that aren't crimes. Prosecutors say they evaluate each case individually when deciding what to offer.
His daughter was seen on security video pocketing more than $100 worth of makeup Aug. 4 at a Sephora store in Manhattan, police said. She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge but released with a notice to return to court.
Police said store managers initially indicated they didn't want to press charges against her, but the cosmetics company said in a statement that it aided prosecutors in their investigation.
The company, part of Paris-based luxury goods giant LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, declined to comment on the resolution of the case.

Private Colleges 'Act Local' With Financial Aid

Hoping to portray themselves as more affordable and all-around better neighbors, private colleges from Appalachia to Boston are sweetening financial aid packages for students from their own backyards.
The latest and most prestigious example is Northwestern University. By targeting local students in financial need, Northwestern is seeking to boost minority enrollment, strengthen local ties and stay competitive in the college admissions race at a time when many private schools are increasing aid based on student merit instead of financial circumstances.
"You may be thinking globally about your education curriculum," David Warren, president of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, said of such efforts. "But you're increasingly acting locally with respect to students."
Northwestern's "Good Neighbor, Great University" scholarships will be awarded starting in fall 2011 to about 100 incoming freshman who graduated from high schools in Evanston, Ill., home to Northwestern's main campus, and Chicago, site of its medical school. About 2,000 first-year students enroll at Northwestern annually.
Students whose families show financial need – there is no income cut-off – will be eligible for scholarships replacing loans and payments from work-study. The majority of students who qualify will receive enough aid to fully cover the cost of Northwestern's $40,223 annual tuition and fees, said Michael Mills, associate provost for university enrollment.
The program was recommended by a university task force on diversity and inclusion, which was formed following racial tensions on campus, including a controversy last fall over two students who dressed up in blackface for Halloween.
After its black student enrollment peaked at nearly 10 percent during the Carter administration, Northwestern experienced a slow and steady decline, Mills said.
This year's incoming freshman class is about 7.2 percent black, up from 4.5 percent three years ago, which Mills attributed in part to better outreach to Chicago Public Schools and waiving the $65 application fee for its students. The university expects to enroll 60 CPS graduates in this fall's freshman class, up from 28 in fall 2008.
Turning again to Chicago for the new scholarship program seemed a logical step considering the city's racial diversity and the strong Chicago connections of faculty and board members, he said.

Wayne Newton -- Park My Jet On My Lawn

According to employees at the Oakland International Airport, Wayne -- who left the plane to rot after repairs became too expensive -- finally paid the aircraft's mounting storage fees last month and had it shipped to his famous Casa de Shenandoah estate in Las Vegas.
We're told the plane had to be disassembled to make the long haul from Michigan to Nevada -- but it has since been put back together ... and now resides in the yard of Wayne's Las Vegas estate for all to see (pictured above).
This is now the second loose end involving sky miles that Wayne has tied up recently ... we've also learned Wayne just settled a $500k debt with his former pilot.
As we previously reported, Monty Ward won a $501,388 judgment against "Mr. Las Vegas" back in 2009 for unpaid wages.
But now ... according to documents filed in Clark County, Nevada last week, Monty "acknowledges full satisfaction" of the debt ... which means the two are now officially even-steven.

But Whitney isn’t going to let the talk get her down – she’s happy with who she is, haters be damned! “Sometimes I see [comments about my weight], but to be perfectly honest with you, it doesn’t really effect me all too much. I know I am OK, and I know if there was ever a problem, my family would be the first ones to come in, come up to me and would totally help me. So it doesn’t really affect me.”
So how DOES Whit look so damned perfect all the time? Warning: you may hate her after you read this. “Right now my [workout] routine is probably non-existent. Sometimes I will really get into the swing of things, I’ll go into the gym and get on the elliptical, but right now I do push-ups in my bedroom and that’s the extent of it.”
Ugh. Jealous.
When she’s busy NOT working out and fighting off body criticisms, Whitney is preparing to release her advice book, True Wit (which will be released this winter), working on her fashion week presentation and hanging out with boyfriend Ben Nemtin. “I think [we work because] we are very low-maintenance,” she said of The Buried Life star. “I mean, in the time that we have been dating, I haven’t seen one movie with him at all. We’ll go to events. We are very low-key, going to dinner and hanging out.”

Jimmy Carter To Return From North Korea With Aijalon Gomes

BOSTON — An American who was imprisoned in North Korea for illegally crossing the border has a gentle spirit but is also a person of conviction willing to be bold about what he believes, friends and acquaintances said.
Aijalon Gomes had been teaching English in South Korea when he was imprisoned in January for entering North Korea from China, U.S. officials said. This week, former president Jimmy Carter traveled to the isolated nation to try to win Gomes' release, and end the Boston's man harrowing and unlikely trip from the inner city to a North Korean jail.
"'He ran deep,' I think, would be the phrase that other people might use," said Erik Woodbury, who attended college with Gomes. "I was surprised that he ended up in North Korea, but I wasn't surprised that there was something he was passionate about."
It's unclear what prompted Gomes to enter the repressive nation. He may have been emulating fellow Christian Robert Park, who was detained after he crossed into North Korea a month earlier to highlight its human rights record, said Jo Sung-rae, a South Korean human rights advocate who met with Gomes. Park was expelled a few weeks later.
Shortly before he left for North Korea, Gomes was photographed in Seoul, South Korea, protesting Park's plight.
Gomes was sentenced in April to eight years of hard labor and fined $700,000 for illegally entering the country. Gomes' relatives have declined to say much about him or his situation, though they pleaded for his release on humanitarian grounds after North Korea's state-run media reported last month that he'd attempted suicide.
The family stayed quiet when asked for personal reflections about Gomes this week.
"They would prefer not to comment," said family spokeswoman Thaleia Schlesinger.
Gomes grew up in an apartment in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, long a haven for immigrants and now heavily populated by African-Americans and people from Caribbean nations. In high school, he worked after school at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. as part of a jobs programs that aimed to steer students toward college.
